.... thank you! Some wonderful MNer suggested the pomodoro technique on a house-tidying thread recently. Whoever you were - thank you! It has completely revolutionised my life. I get twice as much done and in half the time! Apologies if I sound like an advert, but I was sooo sick and tired of the constant mess and had tried all sorts of routines and apps, to no avail .

Off to Google...never feel very smug in my living room!

It's a ridiculously simple concept. You set a timer for 25 minutes and zoom around tidying/cleaning until the buzzer goes - no pausing, no making a cup of tea, no distractions. When the buzzer goes you can take a 5 min break or skip the break and do another pomodoro.
I just find that the timer (which has a ticking sound on the pomodoro app) makes me stay on task and work at top speed (like you would if soneone were coming round and you had 25 mins to tidy up before they arrived! )
Just decide how many pomodori you want to do in a day/morning etc and allow no slacking during each one. I can't believe how much more efficient it's made me!
