Iron has black burn marks on the bottom - how to remove?

Just realised the subject of this thread sounds a bit funny but I don't know how else to word it!
I've ironed motifs by mistake on my DD's clothes (I know but I wasn't thinking) and now have black marks on the iron which leave marks on clothes.
I've descaled my iron but they're sill there.
Does anyone have any help please?

you need something like this sole plate cleaner - it stinks when you do it and lots of steam comes off, so open all the windows, but has always worked for me. Good luck.

That looks just the thing, thank you.

I've used an iron cleaning cloth before which seems to do the trick.

is it stainless, non stick aluminium, or ceramic coated?
