DD got ill all over bedroom carpet - I tried as best I could with Vanish stain remover to clean it up at 4 in the morning - but I notice today theres still a "hue" of stain on the carpet. Carpet is an oatmeal colour so its quite obvious. I dont want to have to get in the professionals if I can, has anyone any suggestions as to how to clean it further???

I hate to ask, but what had she been eating? Some vomit stains are really hard to get out!

Sorry - I know this is a bit yuck...it was spag bol, so hence the "hue" of tomato sauce....

Have you tried laundry liquid / powder in hot water with a sponge?

SerendipityAlways · 22/03/2013 13:01

2 mugs of water, 1 tablespoon each of white vinegar and handwash laundry detergent.

Sponge this over the stain and blot it over the stain. Sponge over cold water to remove the solution.

Can't be any worse than when DS vomited all over a brand new white cashmere jumper after he'd had a dish that contained tomato and turmeric!

Oh dear...Shock Thanks Moominsarehippos!! I'll try that remedy straightaway...

Vanish carpet spray, steam cleaner and vax if you have it - hugely labour intensive but it managed to get vomit out of our cream carpet ~DH's best mate had a bit too much red wine

I'd suggest you pick up the majority of it with paper towels. Then as far as the stain that is left behind is concerned. You can buy some pretty good carpet cleaners in a spray bottle that are meant for such a task. Read the instructions on the back of the bottle and follow them. That should remove any stain left on the carpet. If you want more information, you can see how to remove stains from tiles and that's how I removed it. I think my post was useful to you, thanks for your attention)
