How can I make my bed super luxurious?

I bought a lovely new kingsized bed when I moved house but am only just getting round to buying new bedding/linen to dress it with. My old feather quilt & ancient pillows are getting a bit thin now and I'd like to get a lovely thick super king sized quilt, new pillows, linen, cushions, bolster pillows, maybe a beadspread/throw type thing. Help me make my bed even more inviting than it is at the moment. Tell me what I need! Thanks, Pops

Where can you get 1000tc sheets? I googled and only found the website linked to below.

I always get new duvets and pillows in tk maxx (homesense).

Selfridges have them as do Debenhams altho Debs didn't seem to have the full range in stock on line. I've also looked at a few online sites and Amazon which price wise seem to come up about £100 cheaper than the department stores for a full superking set. Can't link as I'm on phone and can't remember off hand the ones I've looked at. Would quite like to have a look/feel of the fabric before I buy though as the prices are eye watering and it scares me a little bit laying out that much cash for something I've not seen. Not saying I don't trust the judgement of mumsnetters because I do but this is a serious investment! Plus one of the websites I looked at said that 1000tc is "like marmite" and it's not to everyone's taste. This has utterly taken over my life the past few days: who knew bed linen could be so time consuming!!

Yikes, 500 pound for a duvet? You've made my eyes water! I get all my bedding from here
Www.Homespacedirect.com Lovely stuff including feather mattress toppers and duvets, as well as percale sheets. It's all good quality but a lot cheaper then places like John Lewis.

I think 1000 thread count is too high, it feels like an oilcloth. Egyptian cotton percale at 200 or 300 is lovely and yes I have to agree on the JL down duvet, bliss! Down pillows too.

PS cotton only looks really good ironed, whatever the thread count. Sad but true. Even unironed cotton percale is the thing to get for comfort.
