What happens to shoes in your house?

We are a shoes off household.

But there is always a cluttered pile of shoes scattered around the hall. Hmm

We need some sort of storage thingy. Nothing too deep or wide.

What have you got, can you show me it?

TIA! :)

We do wear shoes around the house downstairs as no carpet. But if wet or whatever we sling everything in a large wooden box under the stairs.

We have an ikea shelf-y thing with boxes, one for each person. We also have a big cupboard, with space for a box on the bottom and a hanging rail and shelf for hats/gloves etc. And in addition we have recently acquired an old coat/hat stand. So altogether we have six large boxes and a cupboard.

And the entire hall is full of fucking shoes. And coats. And gear bags. And hockey stick. And umberellas. And hats, gloves, scarves, waterproofs, sports boots, coats, hoodies, etc.

I've decided that (just possibly) it isn't storage I need, it's new children [bitter]

We are a no shoe house.

We have shoe storage

Swiss store as I am in Switzerland but you get the idea... Its really slim and stores 8 pairs of shoes

noisytoys · 20/03/2013 18:50

We are a no shoes on the bed or sofa house but other than that we wear them if we want and don't if we don't want to

Hulababy · 20/03/2013 18:51

Shoes off house here too.

Have a shoe cupboard which holds many of mine and DD's shoes. Rest, and DH's shoes, go in a cupboard we had built in downstairs toilet room. DD often leaves her school shoes near the door.

Hulababy · 20/03/2013 18:53

We have something very similar to zoyt - same colour and same number of boxes. Holds more than 8 pairs though so dimensions must be different.

We are a 'do whatever you want' with your shoes household. The shoes that end up on a rack in the hall are size 11 steel toed ones (3 pairs) or hiking boots. I have yet to find neat storage for these Sad

We have something a bit like this on the door of our cupboard under the stairs. It hides some of the shoes..

chipmonkey · 20/03/2013 19:53

We have one of these although I notice that argos now have much nicer ones. It's for school shoes and trainers really, so that we are not running around the house screaming "Has anyone seen ds4's shoes?" when we should have left for school fifteen minutes ago. It would of course be better if ds4 actually put his shoes in it.

CognitiveOverload · 20/03/2013 19:58

Shoes off house with a shoe truck that is also a seat from ikea.

AwkwardSquad · 20/03/2013 20:03

We have a basket in the kitchen for everyday shoes. We don't have a hallway, otherwise I'd have a shoe storage thingie like the one zoyt has, or a storage bench if there was enough room.

noyouhavehadawee · 20/03/2013 20:09

we have two ikea shoe storage things. one at front door and one at back patio door to catch shoes they would wear out back

imip · 20/03/2013 22:18

We had a built in cupboard made with pigeon holes. Top half for dh and my shoes, with out of season shoes right up the top. Bottom half for dcs shoes. Can fit an amazing number of shoes, it is like the tardis. Then we have a big basket for all hat, scarves and gloves. Dd2 still leaves her shoes anywhere and everywhere. And when I say no to dressing up, she 'dresses up' in all her shoes instead. So we still have a shoe mess, but we are more organised. Wellies sit near the basket. It is all located on either side of the front door. Coat hooks there also. And two buggies. Frankly, if he buggies went, it would be a lot tidier.

I lust after a mud room. Would be quite an extravagance in central london!
