Whats the best /easiest way of cleaning the actual hotplate on the cooker? Anyone have any tips? I'm worried of damaging the plate itself.

are they the round iron plates on an electric cooker, or something else?

Just round iron plates on an eletric cooker.

You can rub them with scrunched up newspaper. Polish with half a drop of cooking oil, rubbed off with paper, leaving just enough to make the iron dark (it will protect against rust).

Burnt on deposits can be cleaned off withgreen nylon scourer when cold.
