What am I doing wrong with my tumble drier?

Got a drier and it seems to make things more creased not less, even if I fold immediately on removal the creases are really tight in there.

Stuff I've ironed after using drier does not look as flat either.

Am I overloading it? Too hot? Not hot enough?

Any advice gratefully received.

I think it might be too dry when you take it out. Don't dry it quite so much.

As in hang up or fold while tiny bit damp still??

Won't the clothes go smelly if not fully dry??

Can you tell I am clueless and at grand old age of 35 am too proud to ring my mum and ask advice on house keeping?!

It's a proper tumble drier not a washer drier?

There's dry and then there's "sucks the very moisture from your hands when you fold it" dry.

Mine dries to three levels of dryness: "iron dry", "store dry" and "extra dry". Only towels and nappies need extra crunchy dry, but I find "iron dry" quite damp.

too much in there and too hot.

My tumble drier stops automatically when it senses the clothes are dry but they always feel ever so slightly damp.

However, once I've shaken them out, they then feel perfectly dry (strange - must be the residual heat or something).

The instructions say this is the way it should be so it sounds as if you're drying them a bit too long.

If your drier has the option of a cold tumble at the end, this would help with the creasing too.

Yup just a drier not a washer drier with 2 heat settings, very basic.

So it's best to have a lower heat then hang to help reduce ironing, which is on a par with Everest at the minute!

And make sure you don't put too much in.
