Spare Room to Store Room

Our spare room (box room really), is unfortunately an absolute tip, it's a dumping ground.

There's no bed in there and I don't really want to have a guest room, because TBH I don't want guests. DD has bunk beds so she can have a friend over.

So, I've decided that as it's essentially a store room, I'm going to make it into a proper functional store room and the free up some space and declutter other rooms. I'd like to move the ironing stuff in there ideally.

The basic idea is to go to Ikea tomorrow to buy some cheap but hopefully sturdy shelf units to go down one wall, there's aleady a bookcase in there from it's previous life as a study (pre dd), and a desk with the printer on. I'm hoping to achieve a useful store room, which is tidy enough so that we can actually find things easily and I can get around to vac and dust properly.

I've day dreamed about a shelf to keep vases on when not in use :)

Has anyone else done this? Any ideas

Besta shelves, Samla boxes (both from Ikea), Dymo labeller Smile. Neat and spacious.

Thank you, I'll add those to my list of things to look at tomorrow.

2x Samla boxes fit side by side (but longways into the shelf) in the Besta shelves. I hope that makes sense! And you can get full height and 1/2 height Samla boxes. I love this setup (I have 2, and will probably buy 1 more for my new house). I find the shelves very robust, much better than Billy bookshelves. You can buy separate extra shelves too.
