Boring question - Mouldy boot

Basically its a long story but my car boot has gone mouldy. Both sides of the boot floor were covered in white mould patches. We have given it a scrub and used some dettol cleaning spray on it but as soon as it dries it looks mouldy again and it STINKS!

Does anyone have any brilliant tips for removing mould from fabric? Every cleaning product in the shops seems to say not for use on fabric. Help!

Bicarbonate of soda to absorb moisture & get rid of smells? Sprinkle it in & leave, then vacuum. May help with smell & doesn't stain/damage fabric in my experience.

Oh I think I have some of that in the cupboard, will try it thanks. Have had to leave it out in the garden it smells so much!

you can probably take the linings out (retained by plastic clips) and wash, scrub and hose them down outside, and dry flat in the sun. It is usually a stiff synthetic material and very tough. I have hung mine on a wall and scrubbed it when a bottle of worcester sauce broke.

It must be perfectly dry before you put it back.

If the boot floor lining is in one piece with the seat-back covers, you may have to cut it at the crease where it folds.

the sound-deadening felt may have to be replaced if it has been wet and rotten. You can get it from some motorists accessory dealers.

Its just one big piece of furry type stuff with a solid material in the middle. I wonder if maybe the stuff inside is mouldy too in which case I might just have to give up and buy a new one.

might it be flexible plastic sheet with flock or felt stuck to it?
