HELP! Nasty urine stain on my brand new carpet!

My friends little boy weed on my brand new carpet of 4 weeks and I'm devastated!
I've done the usual mopping, cleaning, soda bicarbonate and even got a professional in the next day to have a go. He said that it looked like the acid in the urine has bleached some of the colour off the carpet.

Nothing has worked and now I have a pale yellows greeny stain on my lovely dark carpet.

Surely there must be something that will work? It's 5 Days old and I am so so upset:(

I wanted to leave the insurance as a last resort .

Is it easy to dye a carpet? It's a browny grey colour ie dark.

I've seen DIY kits for dying but not confident about doing I myself as stin right in the centre of the room:(

I don't think it can be cleaned as such, that has already been done.

I wouldn't try and dye it myself, I doubt you would get a true colour match - unless you ring the carpet manufacturers and see if they have any advice/could do a repair/sell you some dye.

I would probably claim on the insurance.

Last soloution I can think of is to cut out the stain and put a new piece in. Depending on where on the floor, and what the pattern/pile of the carpet is, will vary the result of this.

Think ill give the manufacturers a call and see.

I've had quotes for a repair and its between £110-120 and they ro idle a good result. Just feel deflated when the carpet was only installed in Feb.

Have only just seen that my accidental damage cover doesn't cover carpets! It is the basic cover for mirrors etc which is useless. That's what I get for not reading the small print and renewing at the Last minute.

if the carpet is bleached, other than dyeing it (sounds tricky) or putting a rug over to hide, i think the only option left is insurance Sad

I would be contacting the shop who sold it to you, about it not being fit for purpose. I know that you haven't mentioned skotchguard for the carpet, but our carpets have been wee-ed on by DS as both baby and toddler and the carpet hasn't been bleached.

It's a poorly dyed carpet if your friend's baby could cause this amount of damage. Loads of parents must have wee-ed on carpets - show of hands laides, how many of you have had patches of carpet bleached by a toddler / bay's wee?

The rug is an option but it he stain is in an wok ward spot so the rug would just not look right there.

I've had a go with the rug doctor urine eliminator and the stain is definitely better but the carpet is discoloured for sure.

I looked at the carpet details and it comes with a stain protection for sure. I actually had an off cut left from the carpet which I saturated with the cleaners I've used and the carpet colour hasn't changed so all I can assume is that it's the urine that's bleached the colour.

I need to have a think about how I am going to approach the carpet manufacturers as I know the first back lash will be blaming me for using products on it and causing the problem.

Well , as expected I got a knock back as soon as i called the supplier for his advice.

He said urine stains are permenant blah blah and that my carpets weren't stain protected.

Corrected him on both and am now waiting for someone from manufacturers to call me for an inspection.

FOB- thanks for the advice.

Notsurewhere iwill get with this but worth a try!

I agree, our carpets were weed on loads and this never happened, so you should (and are) be looking to the supplier to resolve. Definitely shouldn't happen if it's supposed to be stain protected.

BTW your contract is with the supplier, not the manufacturer. It's OK for him to get them (as the experts) to have a look, but if they refuse to help, it's still his problem.

Did you pay by credit card?

I was thinking about who was liable....guessing by his reaction and immediate reaction I'm going to be have a battle on my hands.

Yes- paid by credit card so have that as a back up.

Just hope it doesn't become unpleasant .....

Ah if you paid by credit card no reason at all for it to get unpleasant. If you don't get satisfaction from him in a reasonable time frame, just contact the card company and let them deal with it.

I would suggest carpet cleaners for your problem .They have done it for me with hot extraction machine and an anti-urine liquid . I am looking for their website now and will post it here ASAP.
