Weird noise from washing machine.

Hello Grin

it's an indesit machine, about 2.5yrs old. It worked fine last night but this evening it was making a weird, kind of popping pinging sound, and didn't seem to be spinning right.

It didn't sound metallic, like coins or bra wire. And it didn't rock and it's not overly loud (that we'd notice).

I've managed to stop it, drain it and get the soggy clothes out. And emptied the filter (nothing in there).

Any ideas, or suggestions to try? if we're going to have to replace it I've got no issues dissecting it first! Grin

Thanks wise mn!

Oh, it's a really cheap one and I over fill it

Stopped it before we did more damage (internet suggested motor might burn out if we left it on)

Have you checked your bras to see if a wire has escaped? That happened to me - it slipped through a hole in the drum and made a hell of a noise. The plasticy onedls won't sound metallic.

Have you tried puting it on a short cycle (empty) to see what happens?

Thanks, I'll give the short cycle a go.

Definitely no bra wires, I've been operating on a reduced complement and all is present and correct.

are there any dirty specks on your clothes?

does the noise happen during wash and/or spin and/or pumping out?
