What I have been doing is just a drawer or a shelf at a time. It is slow but on good days I might do 3 or 4 throughout the day depending on how bad they were and how the kids were.

I found I was looking at all the wardrobes and they were such a mess I'd just close the doors and think "another day" but by doing just a shelf at a time its gradually getting there. I think a room at a time would feel more productive as I've been doing the least messy bits first bit at a time approach and although its getting there I think I would feel better if at least one room was finished.

I do 15 mins in a room before moving onto another (and set a timer). Or I do just one cupboard/drawer at a time.

I hate scrubbing one room to perfection and then going into another room and knowing I need to start all over again. A gentle lifting of the tidiness over the whole house is more maintainable too.

I hate the fact that I don't have a single tidy room in the whole house, each room rates from meh to tip. My DM said to have at least one room that you could take a visitor into, luckily I don't get many visitors Smile.

I personally like to have one room completely tidy before I move or fail to move to the next. Whatever works for you.
