Steam cleaners- do they get rid of muddy dog paw prints?

My lounge backs onto my garden and dirty dog tends to bring half of it in with him every time he's out!

I've read that some steam cleaners will remove stains but others don't. Carpet is dirt resistant and tends to come up ok after dirt has dried with the Hoover but not always.

I'm going through a lot of vanish carpet cleaner and wonder if a steam cleaner would be worth the investment????

Yes it would but not sure it is worth the hassle to use every day. Have you thought about buying one of those mats that is made from mircrofibre and attracts the dirt , you can wash them in the washing machine? You could put it by the door and it would stop a lot of the dirt being walked through the house.
