Just wondering if anyone uses them. We've been in our house 4 yrs and the mice come in every September and again in spring. I block holes, put down poison and get paranoid about every rustle and they're gone in 3 weeks or so. But now I'm 35 wks pg, they're back and they've been scattering the poison about which worries me. Got a quote today for £85+vat for one visit from a pest control place, or a six weekly visit for a year for £400. Is it worth it? Any experiences?

Hi, sorry to hear about your mice.

We had a mouse/mice during the summer and we called the 'experts' in. I think we paid about £70 for the intial visit and two follow up visits. they never caught anything. simply by chance we kept putting traps down and finally caught the bugger mouse. I think it was fluke, but would recommend keeping on with the poisin and traps yourself as the 'experts' didn't do anything that we weren't doing anyway. If you're uncomfortable with the poison, then as many traps as you can manage anywhere you think they will be, with chocolate spread in the trap, might bring a result.

HTH

Ring pest control at your local council. They treat rats for free, but charge for mice but it tends to be cheaper than private companies.

Thank you. zimbo I'd do that normally, but am heavily pg so reluctant to do much with poison and scrabbling in corners, plus the nice have started scattering the poison about which worries me. I just want someone to come and sort it really.

worried, thanks, have checked the website and looks much cheaper so will give the council a call. I love our house but every time I find more droppings I feel like I could move out tomorrow - it's grim.
