This is going to be the most boring thread in the world. Sorry.

Do have a supply of stationery in your house? Where is it kept and what's in it?

Pens (blue/black/red/green)
Pencils
Rubber
Pencil sharpener
Black marker pen
Ruler
Post-it-notes
Selotape
String
Blu-tack
Superglue
Stapler
Staples
Tape measure
Stamps
Envelopes of various sizes
Calculator

What do I need and where can it all go?

I have all of the above except the stapler and staples (I use paper clips). I have a tape measure and superglue but they live in the tool box.

All of my pens, pencils etc... are in a pot on the desk in our 'study'. Everything else is in the drawer of the desk.

CaptainMartinCrieff · 26/02/2013 08:53

Oh and I don't have string... Can't imagine when I'd ever use string.

You're missing paper and notebooks from your list.

NormanTheForeman · 26/02/2013 08:57

Most of these things live in a shoebox in the cupboard in the living room, except stamps which are in my purse, string which is in the kitchen drawer (mostly gets used for Christmas puddings etc) and superglue (in top cupboard of utility room, as wanted it out of reach of ds when he was little).

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/02/2013 09:00

I have all of those plus drawing pins, split pins, paperclips, highlighters and probably more. Most of it lives in desk drawers next to the computer but permanent markers and superglue are kept high up in a cupboard out of the reach of the DCs.

I keep a pack of brown envelopes and a penpot in the hall table as that is where the calendar and pinboard are and they are used for dinner money, money to Cubs etc. We also have penboxes around the house for the DCs with pencils, rubbers, sharpeners etc

Ooopsadaisy · 26/02/2013 10:42

Thanks all. DCs are teenagers so I don't need to keep stuff like staplers and superglue out of reach.

They are probably more hazardous with me than with the DCs.

I wanted to keep everything in one place so I at least appear organised.

We don't have a study or an office. I want our spare bedroom to be exactly that. Our printer is in there which is bad enough, on top of a metal filing cabinet that contains all the bills, bank statements, warranties ....... etc, but I don't want a messy pile of stationery sitting around.

Captain - paper is tucked neatly down the side of the printer and notebooks are in the kitchen drawer.

I think the kitchen drawer (above) may have to become the "home of stationery chez Ooops" but I don't really want it in here.

Any more ideas?

I have a plastic box similar to this one on Amazon.

The top half has compartments for the smaller stuff, with a bigger space underneath for paper and envelopes.

I've got some pink cardboard drawers from WHSmith, similar to

<a class="break-all" href="http://www.whsmith.co.uk/CatalogAndSearch/BigImagePopUp.aspx?largeImageSrc=www.whsmith.co.uk/Images/Products/338/712/33871219_l_f.jpg" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.whsmith.co.uk/CatalogAndSearch/BigImagePopUp.aspx?largeImageSrc=www.whsmith.co.uk/Images/Products/338/712/33871219_l_f.jpg

but each one is taller and narrower (square fronted IYSWIM?)

Ooopsadaisy · 26/02/2013 11:41

Scissors! I need scissors!

I've a similar (cardboard with glossy paper covering) miniature chest-of-drawers, pretty enough to be on display near phone, notepad etc plus pretty mug for all pens, scissors, ruler etc. Miniature staplers & hole-cutters etc. work perfectly well and join rest of stuff in small drawers.
