Washing cat bedding

My husband has recently developed an allergy to cat hair so I'm not sure if I can still wash my cat bedding in the machine at home. If I use a long, hot wash and run the machine empty afterwards will I eradicate any chance of the cat hair getting into the next wash? Or do I have to go to the launderette (sigh)?

a hot wash, and especially a tumble-dry, or failing that a line dry, seems to get all the allergens out.

You may need to step up the Service washes to prevent residue building up in the machine.

You can buy a 'Horse Wear' orange bag for washing pet beds, blankets etc. It stops the hair from contaminating your washing machine. They come in a couple of different sizes depending on what you want to wash.

Have you got petal wipes for the cat? They reduce allergens on the cat.
