The sock monster is out to get me!

Despite many recent conversations with my two year old where I have vehemently denied the existance of monsters I am beginning to think that he is right and I am wrong and monsters, or at least the sock monster, do exist.
Over time I seem to have built up an enormous collection of odd socks that get chucked in a tub and sorted every so often. I got ruthless the other day, put every last bit of washing through and dug through every nook and cranny where any might hide, then paired all the socks I could. All the others got thrown away.
I've just put a load of washing away and there were still several odd socks left over. None waiting to wash. Where do they go??? Any sock pairing / monster ridding advice would be very welcome!

some get eaten by the machine. Have you cleaned out the filter recently?

Buy three dozen pairs, all the same. Then you won't have to pair them.

Don't get a kitten, mine legs it with any available sock as though it's the most important kill of his life he also stares at me when I'm asleep but that's a whole other story I've only got a couple of pairs of socks left Sad

Buy a couple of small, cheap, mesh laundry bags wash all socks inside the bag, you can also tumble dry them in these as long as they are not stuffed full IYSWIMSmile

Some amazing items end up in duvet covers, don't know why, but bet some socks are hiding there. DH did exactly what PJ suggests - end of problem.

We have all the same socks here so no odd ones at all - DS -Donnay DH Everlast so no confusion... Buy a couple of packs a year to replace worn ones and growl at everyone at Xmas who try to thwart my working system !
