Bleaching a white t-shirt?

I've managed to get a tomato sauce stain right in the middle of a white t-shirt. I've tried vanish etc and putting it out in the sun but there's still a stain.
Could bleach it and if so, how?

Have you tried soaking it in the old-fashioned favourite Biotex - it's the only stain remover that works for me.

Do soak it for the recommended 2-3 days, though.

YY to biotex, DD dances and has to wear white socks which get filthy, biotex is the only thing that gets the muck out
