Muslin or voile?

What's lighter to go up at a window, muslin or voile? I'm looking at an alternative to regular net curtains and wanted a soft, layered romantic look as I'm having floor length pure white curtains made for our living room.

To go with stripped floor boards, white walls and white sofas. The white will be 'softened' with pretty cushions, blankets and quilts on the sofas and rugs on the floor...

Sounds a lovely room! I don't think I've seen muslin at a window. Voile is lovely. Don't forget big prints on the walls!

Ooh, that does sound lovely. Wouldn't last two minutes looking lovely here, unfortunately Sad.

Voile is lighter but muslin looks softer.

imperial I'm sure I was wrong about muslin at the window, I'm not very good at interior design and get easily confused our sash windows are huge and look straight onto a street.

I live in cottage so want to go for a cottagey look (Not very imaginative I know) but try and keep it a bit modern too....

I wanted to get pretty cushions from Cabbages and Roses, have tartan throws piled on the sofa arms with a colour picked from the cushions and have vintage botanical prints in white frames of cabbage roses.

I'm getting a ClearView pioneer woodburner too. It's quite a small terraced cottage so I want it to look cosy and comfy.

Thank you level !
I have two kids so I'm making sure the new sofas will have washable covers Hmm we actually have an old white sofa now and it has actually survived! The curtains can be washed at 60 degrees too Grin

Want to get these windows right! Want it too look pretty and soft but not block too much light IYKWIM.
