Cleaning Sofa

I need to give my sofa a good clean. I have removable cushion covers that I can hand wash but what is the best way to clean the arms of the sofa? They are a bit grubby but always look terrible after the cushions have been cleaned.

Steam clean them, I do it to mine, I borrown one of my friend, the come up a treat, I think you can hire them from dry cleaners like Johnsons.
