Cleaning floor tile grouting- any tips?

I have pale ceramic floor tiles in my kitchen and over the years the grouting has gone from white to almost black. I've spent hours on my knees with a toothbrush and detergent which makes a little bit of difference but not much.

Is there anything I can buy to clean or even paint over the discolouration?

A white pencil rubber will work.

I recently used toilet bleach on my tiles in the bathroom and left it for an hour or so, make sure the bleach is clear though otherwise the grout might take the dye out of the bleach. Didn't have to do any scrubbing, just rinsed it away. For days after, whenever I went to the loo, I just sat there and had a contented sigh

Google something called 'Bar Keepers Friend' (I think Lakeland do it). It is powder you mix up with water into a paste and you put it onto the grouting and use a toothbrush or scrubbing brush to work it in. Then just wash it off and it works! Bleach doesn't for me. It is laborious though... because you have to then mop the floor and it takes a while to get rid of it, but it does work.

BKF is avalable from Amazon I think.

Bleach is working well- but my knees, my knees. What a sad way to spend my Saturday.

I saw Barkeeper's friend at Range a couple of weeks ago, very reasonably priced. Like, less than £2.

Or maybe it was £2-something. Anyway, nothing like £25.

Wear a mask, open a window, wear old clothes you don't mind getting ruined, plus rubber gloves

I do my shower grout every so often with a mixture of bi carb and bleach. Mix into a paste slap it over where it needs to be. Leave it for a while then get the old toothbrush out and scrub away. Make sure you have the windows open though. Last time I did it I think is used to much bleach and could feel it burning my throat BlushBlush
