cassette and video tapes

I am having a long overdue mega sortout and have a heap of music tapes and tapes that I have recorded tv programmes on. (going back more than 10 years). Charity shops wont wont them, so what can I do with them ? Are they recycable, or is there a craft I can use them for ?

I chucked all my tapes a while ago (well I left then in a box outside house and someone took them) - then a few months later brought a car that only had a tape player :(

Perhaps one of your tapeplayercarfriends might like them?
