How to store jigsaw puzzles?

DD has lots of jigsaw puzzles: some are hard wooden boards, but some are just pieces. Some have a specific box, but others came with three/four puzzles in one box (in separate plastic bags).

How the heck can I store these?? Currently they're just stacked up messily.

decent thickness ziplock wallets, 1 per jigsaw, for all jigsaws without a box. YOu can then put the wallets in a storage box, end on, or on a shelf again upright, so it is easy to pull out the one you want.

jigsaws in boxes just in a stack

I label every single piece aswell so that they are easy to sort as inevitably they get middled up. So for example if it's a Gruffalo 16 piece I make up the jigsaw, turn it over and write on each one in order 'Gruffalo 1 of 16' etc.
