What can I clean with bicarb and lemon juice?

I have made lemon sponge and have loads left. I also have bicarb.

What can and can't be cleaned with the paste?

Lemons are acidic, and bicarb is basic, so they will neutralize one another. You can use lemon juice to dissolve limescale deposits around taps. But do not put anywhere near marble or other natural stone (granite, being silicate, is less vulnerable to acids than limestone or marble.)

Bicarb can be used as a mild abrasive. Since it is caustic (on the higher end of the pH scale) it can dissolve grease. Useful in the kitchen.

It's good for cleaning tea-stained mugs. But not as good as a Magic Eraser.

I don't use these things to clean, myself, as I believe purpose-made products are better for cleaning. But, if they'll otherwise just go to waste and you feel like cleaning... go for it.

How about making some lemon hand scrub? Doesn't need bicrab though.

Oh, and home made lemon curd is dead easy and bloody delicious. Also no bicarb though...

Sorry, this is only for the lemons again... If you gave any patches of rust, put a little table salt on and squeeze lemon juice over. Leave for a couple of minutes then rub gently away with kitchen roll or a cloth and the rust has disappeared! Rinse area after.

Or take a look at this book for more ideas.

Chop a couple of lemons in half, put them in a microwave proof jug with water and microwave for 3-5 mins. The water will steam clean your microwave and the lemon will disinfect it. Then just use kitchen towel to wipe clean.

Glass shower screens come up a treat. As will your sink.
