Wee smelling boots!

My ds had an accident yesterday whilst at my mil house and still wearing his fur (fake obviously!) lined boots. She just put them on the radiator to dry without washing them.

I brought them home and washed them last night with washing up liquid and lots of water but they are still smelling of wee.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the smell out now? Or is it too late?

TIA

bucket of water with bicarbonate of soda. It will dissolve in warm water but then add cold as this will be better for the boots and discourage mould growth.

If you can dry them, upside down, hanging from the line outside, the wind and cold air will discourage mould and rot. You can stuff them with newspaper to hold the shape, and change it after a few hours when it has absorbed water.

the water might diossolve glues holding the boots together, but this is more likely if hot.

Thanks Piglet! How much bicarb should I put into a bucket of water?

Sorry for being dim!
