Help understanding FLY lady routines

Hi, I started the FLY lady routine yesterday. I shined my sink :-) but I find the website a bit confusing and am looking for some help understanding all the different routines.

So, I'm supposed to do the baby steps right? Well, that's started as I shined my sink yesterday evening (and wiped it down after using it this morning) and I got dressed to boots this morning (I do this everyday anyway as I have to go to work!).

And I'm supposed to do 15 minutes decluttering - is that right?

What else am I supposed to be doing this evening? Zone work? Or do the baby steps build up to that? When should I start doing the weekly home blessing - do the baby steps build up to that?

Help!

If you can justify it I'd recommend the book, which I found explains everything better - how to start, what to do in which order etc. I can't link from my phone but it's called 'sink reflections' and I got mine from amazon.

I find the book better than the website too.

Basically you start one new babystep each day and keep them going (although some of them are a bit silly IMO), then 15 mins decluttering in the relevant zone. If you are already decluttered then you move on to daily missions and detailed cleaning in that zone. There is also a Daily Focus, of which Home Blessing is one, you should try and make a start with these too. So it depends to a large extent on how cluttered you are when you start.

You could always come and join the Fledgling Flyers thread, someone posts links to all the relevant parts of the website every day and there is a lot of chat it moves very fast!

I'd agree that the book is less confusing than the website! Basically you just do what you are comfortable doing, even when you are doing it properly. One thing I like about it is that it doesn't matter so much if I don't follow all the items on the routines to the letter, as I know the time for me to do them again will come around again quickly.
Have you got an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch? There is an app which ties in with flylady routines which is good, it's called HomeRoutines, I found flylady quite tricky until I got that app Smile

Thank you ladies!

So, this week's zone is the kitchen so I should try to do 15 minutes of decluttering in the kitchen this evening, right?

Daily Focus...Daily Missions - argh, what are they?! I think I'll have to look at buying the book, thanks! I have an iPhone that I never use, so maybe I'll look at getting the HomeRoutines app too and that will motivate me to use the iPhone (inherited from DH when he upgraded).

I've just had a look at the Flylady thread - thanks, that looks really helpful too!

There are 7 daily missions that stay the same each week (though obv. you can rearrange them to suit, today is Monday and DF is Home Blessing). Whereas the missions are zone specific and are bits of detailed cleaning, some of them turn up every month (cleaning all your kitchen counters thoroughly) some pop up once or twice a year (clean the cooker hood for eg). I've been doing it for three years and just muddle through, but it does work if you stick at it and don't get distracted by MN

Oh and yes, 15 mins decluttering in the kitchen today.
