How tidy are you?

I'm asking as I just got back from a work colleagues house and whilst there I popped to the bathroom, when I returned she was plumping the settee cushions I didn't feel like I could sit down again lol the whole house was like a show house.
I try to be tidy but my house is lived in, coffee cups on the side, teenagers bits here there and everywhere etc.

I'm a slob. DH is anally retentive. We meet in the middle somewhere usually.

Mrsrudolphduvall · 04/01/2013 21:28

Very.
I am not happy unless my house is tidy.
You will never find a coffee cup out Grin

SwedishEdith · 04/01/2013 21:31

Not at all. I don't mind cleaning (just throwing chemicals and water at stuff) but I can never manage the actual tidying first

Andro · 04/01/2013 22:13

Kitchen and bathrooms have to be immaculate, I will not compromise on those rooms. Everywhere else is kept clean and tidy, but not perfect.

justcrazy · 04/01/2013 22:33

I'm pleased I'm not the only one who has a lived in house, I clean daily bathroom, kitchen, Hoover & tidy downstairs but not all day.

Not very. I'd like to be, but we I have too much crap stuff that needs to be kept in too small a home!! Grin

Nuttyprofessor · 05/01/2013 01:26

Extremely so is DH and DS, it makes life easier.

LibraryMum8 · 05/01/2013 04:39

I'm tidy but not to the point of making others uncomfortable :)

justcrazy · 05/01/2013 10:24

Salad the house comes with a grumpy DH, two hormonal teenagers, 1 mad springer spaniel and an old cat lol

Thank you Librarymum I'm all for tidy but uncomfortable was exactly how I felt.

I love to be tidy, and enjoy tidying, but find it hard work. I don't have a place for everything at the moment, but I'm working on it.

MirandaWest · 05/01/2013 12:10

I am not tidy Blush. DD is probably the most naturally tidy one here. I do tidy when necessary though.

techn9nefan · 05/01/2013 12:15

im rather anal about my cleaning I have 3 DD's and a DP. I cant stand mess of any kind. I clean my house from top to bottom everyday. but im a SAHM so have the time too. I grew up in an extreamly messy house and I think thats why I am the way I am about cleaning

trixymalixy · 05/01/2013 12:19

I'm a slob, so is DH, wish we weren't.

justcrazy · 05/01/2013 12:36

Have just had a go at hubby to get the christmas boxes down so I can have a deep clean as its back to work etc on Monday and that's when I'm to knackered to do more than just the basics

I was never tidy (nor was DH) and it didn't bother us until the DCs came along. Now I really really want to be tidy but am too tired to do what needs to be done. Since I joined MN in the summer I have been trying to change old bad habits.

Labootin · 06/01/2013 10:52

I am shockingly untidy. Thankfully I have a live in housekeeper.

I am training the children to be tidy though as when they eventually leave their gloriously clean and tidy abode there won't be someone to pick up after them.

CremeEggThief · 06/01/2013 19:19

I am extremely tidy, but not that into cleaning. Vacuuming and bathrooms once a week (usually), dusting fortnightly- monthly, and currently contemplating getting an oven-cleaning man in, as it's been well over 6 months (although I'm vegetarian, so probably not quite as bad as it sounds!)
