whitening white baby clothes that have yellowed

i found some white babygrows / vests that i had vacuum packed away the other day after DD and got them out to see if they would be ok for the next (and last!) baby due in the summer.

they were mostly fine, but had yellowed slightly on the neck - probably old milk stains where the non bio hadn't got it out well enough. is there any way i can restore their whiteness? i know that bright sunlight is supposed to be good but thats very rare at the moment! would milton or bleach or something work? or are they destined for the recycling?

Steep them in napisan and wash with bio powder, that will remove the yellowness. I did it at 40 or 60 degrees, depends how bad the stains are. Then rewash in non bio before the baby wears them. Worked fine for me.

Also drying in sunlight helps but good Luck with that at this time of year! Congrats on the new baby

I never bothered trying to re-whiten them, I bought dylon dye in a bright cheerful col our and dyed them, either plain or tie dye, looks fabulous and very easy :)

thank you both. i have managed to finally track down some napisan, so as soon as we get some good weather (!) i will give that a go. if all else fails i will have to recycle. i love the idea of bright colours but some of the sleepsuits have grey stars and some stripes as part of the fabric and i am ot sure how they would turn out.
