Kitchen smells!

Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of cooking smells in the kitchen - particularly if you are cooking steak or burgers? Smells really seem to linger, and I'm now living in an open plan kitchen/living room, so there it no escaping the smell long after dinner is over.

Burn lemon grass in an oil burner!

a powerful extractor hood that sucks the cooking fumes away and outside the house. Recirculating ones are useless except as a kitchen ornament Start it before you start cooking and leave it running until you have washed up the pans and wiped the hob.

An actual large extractor fan in the wall wil be slower, but often quieter, so you can leave it running all the time.

Kitchen candles do actually help, though all candles emit black soot which will soil your walls and ceiling.
