Help with boots

I have these:

boots

Thought they were grey, but they are more khaki (tho grey in some lights)

Any ideas in how to make them look grey, if I used a grey polish, would it ruin them?

On another note, I cannot find grey ankle boots anywhere.

The pic makes them look taupe, how strange that they're more khaki! I don't have any tips if you can't return them. I'd be wary that any change would be temporary.
