Ive bought a cast iron fireplace off someone local on gumtree, so the marble mantlepiece, cast iron back is included, only thing that isnt is the fire they had as it apparently has been thrown away?????

Does anyone know, can i buy any to fit in the space left or is it specific, so in otherwords, is it worth me going to collect it or will it take up space in my hall while i spend the next 5 years searching for a fire that fits it. Smile

When you say 'fire' what exactly do you mean? If it's the grate then once you know the size, and the era the fire surround is from, it shouldn't be too difficult to track down a suitable (and not too expensive) grate from a salvage/junk yard.

Very easy to get hold of from places like this:

Anglia Fireplaces

They come in three sizes I think - 14", 16" and 18". You need to budget £70-£100 for all the bits and pieces (grate, ash pan, etc).
