I've tried everything to get this off the baking tray.....

Please don't ask how this happened but a baking tray with meat fat on got left in the oven for a few days while it was being used to cook other things.
I've tried three lots of Mr Muscle, a paste of Ariel and a good scrub and I still haven't got it all off.
Anything else I can try please?

Baking soda or denture cleaning tablets might work?

Have you just been scrubbing or have you been soaking it? Soaking more effective IMO.

All of the above, but frankly given the hours spent and the expense involved, I'd just buy another baking tray.

Caustic soda then a VERY good wash after.

Biological washing powder made into a wet paste and leave it for a good while.

Bin it!

If it won't come off with that amount of effort, it won't come off on your next thing you cook iyswim.

It'll be Ok. Pans are not supposed to be spotless.

Thanks guys. It's the big tray that came with the oven, not a cheap small one otherwise I would have binned it straight away .
I'll try the baking soda suggestion as I have some of that and fingers crossed!

astonish oven and cookware cleaner paste and a scourer - the paste is about £1 in home bargains/semi chem but is great for getting burnt stuff off.

I second Astonish. It's lush

Put it in the dishwasher on a hot cycle (with the hob rings and oven shelves in the top section)
Get them out of the dishwasher when they're still hot and a bit damp, and wipe them down. All the crud should wipe off easily.
I found out that a brown roasting tin was actually white that way.

I find that the dishwasher bakes the fat on even more and never put trays in it and always wash them by hand

Oven pride, put it in the bag with the stuff & leave for a few hours, it should come off fine.

Dishwashervodka, I find the dishwasher steams the fat into blackened flakes that wipe off easily. Perhaps you're leaving things to cool too long after the dishwasher cycle has finished? They really need to be wiped when hot.

Put some cooking oil on it and heat it up (not smoking hot) in the oven or hob and "stir" with a wooden or plastic spoon as it heats up, then it shiuld come off quite easily.

Oven pride pop it in a bag and leave it for a few hours or another solution is to put some washing powder in it and boil it with water on the hob for a while. It is the boiling that will make the difference you just have to watch that it does not boil over.

thank you so much for all the tips. i did another lot of Mr Muscle followed by the dishwasher on the hottest setting followed by some elbow grease. its 95% perfect and I've run out of time now for anything else. I'll try some of your other suggestions later.

I have found that oven cleaners sometimes remove non stick surfaces, I use those oxygen powders with hot water.

Le creuset do a pots and pans cleaner in a squeezy bottle. It's really good.

Oven pride is fantastic. Leave in the bag overnight at least though and if it's very bad it might need a second application.
