Can anyone recommend a good stain removal spray for the carpet!?

The Tesco upholstery and carpet cleaner I've used in the past for pet and child-related carpet incidents (!) has been discontinued! I've tried 1001 and Vanish stain mousse and neither seem terribly good.

Can anyone recommend a carpet stain remover for me!?

Hi, I have found that with Vanish you just have to reapply a number of times and put some elbow grease in to take the stains out. Took the coffee stain out of our cream carpet:)

I like Vanish too. hte mousse is good for minor spills. For the really ground in stuff I like the Vanish Powershot spray. Removes most stuff IME.

the stuff in the Fuschia-pink spray bottle (is it Vanish?) don't use a brush to work it in as this will frizz the pile of the carpet, but you can massage it in with your finger. Sponge away, vacuum well when dry.

I use White stuff cream from Lakeland - works a treat.

I have found this really good at getting stains out. But I think it leaves a residue, so a few months later you notice that there is a bit of carpet that seems to gather dirt much more than the surrounding carpet.

So, now if I use this to remove a stain, I would then wash the area again with Stardrops to get the residue of this stain remover out. So, its not a labour saving product, but I do find that it removes stains better than anything else I have tried.

sainsbury's carpet and upholstery cleaner. it was which's 'best buy' a couple of years ago and we've been buying it ever since. Has recently worked well for us on: dog sick , milk, paint, mud. It's making good inroads into the massive dried in curry stain in our living room too, after a few applications.

It's much cheaper than vanish. I bought some of the pink stuff when I was in Asda a while ago and it was nowhere near as good as sainsbo's own.

Vanish for carpets followed by soda bicarbonate - took red wine and red curry mix off my light coloured carpet!! Highly recommend.

1001 works here has got rid of red wine, dog sick and diarrhoea plus a multitude of other things on my light beige carpet. Vanish never worked as well

is this the Sainsburys one? Have never noticed it before, but its getting such a good write up here I might pick it up next time I'm there. Just want to make sure its the right thing that I'm buying.

sorry, probably way too late, but yes, that's the stuff. We've just come out of 4 days of norovirus and it's been working its magic on child-vom too.
