I have an extractor hood which us long overdue a clean. It's not one with the fibrous material inside - I think it is a metal mesh. Do you think I can just stick it in the dishwasher? Man, it is gopping!!

i do!! everytime they come out lurrvly!!! also... the best way to clean the hood itself i find is pouring pure washing up liquid on and its waaay cheaper than any degreasers and does a better job!

Thanks diddie. I don't know where it's come from, but the words "carbon filter" keep popping up in my head, but I defo can't see anything other than metal mesh. Will give the dishwasher a go tomorrow. Thanks for replying on such a boring subject!

If it is an extractor hood (I hope so) which sucks the steam, smells and vapourised fat through the wall, it does not need a carbon filter.

Thanks piglet. That is exactly what it is. It's going in the next load then! TVM.
