Vax or Bissell carpet shampoo machine ? Any preferences?

I'm after a machine to shampoo carpets which ideally has a gadget to do stairs as well. They miss out on the spring clean action in my house.

Anyone have any reviews on Vax or Bissell models & also upright or cylinder ?

Thanks everyone Smile

We have both; a Vax and a Bissell. They are both really good - neither above the other. I would definitely advise upright, as they have a brush scrub/beater bar type thing on the front, so get right into carpet. They would both be good for stairs as nearly all machines come with a hose and handheld attachment for stairs/upholstery. However the Bissell we have has a crevice tool which gets into joins on the stairs (bit between front of upper stair and the flat of the one below) it sprays solution and then sucks it back up, the Vax doesnt have that. So that maybe a feature worth thinking of.

The link below is the Bissell we have (and its the site we bought it from) ideal worlds customer service and delivery are EXCELLENT (no I don't have an affiliation with them).
