Smelly Old Monkey

DS (2) has his favourite bedtime chum, Monkey. He sucks on his label and tail as soon as he holds him. He has always been rather smelly (Monkey, not DS) but a good wash has removed the odour. However, the smell has now changed to a kind of mouldy, mildewy aroma and it is vile. I hot washed him and tumbled him the other day and he was fine for 3 days before smelling again. Am I going to have to throw him out? :( I don't suppose it can be very good for DS' health either. Do you think he's mouldy inside? Any suggestions ?

I suspect the filling is staying damp and needs a very long dry. Maybe put him in a pillowcase and use a low heat to avoid cooking the fur (some synthetics will melt) or perhaps sit him on a radiator or in the airing cupboard for a day or two.

If necessary, you could add a little Milton to the wash.

Hmmm good idea piglet. Maybe I should restuff him. That might be the healthier option. Infact, I will empty him, wash him in some Milton and then restuff. Thanks!

could you give him a good hot wash with napisan or similar too?

I can but try!
