What can I do about condensation on windows?

We have lived here for 4 years and only this year have we started to get lots of condensation on the windows. They are double-glazed. It has started to cause mould growth which I'm trying to keep on top of with mould killer but is there anything I can do to stop the condensation?

We've started opening the bathroom window after showers now even though its freezing! And use the tumble dryer more which I'm not keen on. Any other suggestions?

We have the same problem and have finally invested in a dehumidifier, which seems to be doing the trick. We used to wake up to windows dripping with condensation but they are now more or less dry.

if you've got space to dry washing outside, use as much as possible - works in winter as long it is breezy. 10 mins ventilation after a shower should do it, assuming the shower is a normal length of five minutes or so. Or maybe an extractor fan? Lids on saucepans too. (Slow cookers are brilliant!)

but apart from that, it is the laws of physics and you just need to wipe up.

Karcher window vac is your friend if you don't want to go down the dehumidifier route. I have one and its fab, not solving the problem but a good solution and better then wiping up

We have started using dehumidifier eggs.

We have our dehumidifier going in the bathroom all the time - and dry our washing in there - never any condensation on that window, and the others dry quickly in the morning with the doors left open.

You can get special paint that stops the mould. It has a higher level of pva in which seals the walls. I used it and it worked brilliantly. Sorry I don't remember the name.

I use ronseal anti damp paint. It's very expensive (£20 for a small tin) but it is fantastic

does anybody drape wet washing around the house or over radiators?

how effective is your bathroom extractor fan?

If you hang wet washing on an airer with a powerful dehumidifier underneath is that ok because I do that all the time (flat, no outside space or tumble drier)

a load of washing can hold as much as 2 litres of water. If you sprayed that around your home every day, you would expect it to be damp.
