Dresser

I've a dark oak dresser in my 'through' lounge, which, having just moved to this property, I feel a bit stuck.

I live in a 1930s bungalow, slightly retro style, and want to 'dress' the upper part in something other than china, making it look a little more updated, although with a nod to retro. (Does that make sense?)

Books, I feel, would just make it look cluttered.

Do you have any ideas, please?

Anything would work, what do you like?!

Display of cakestands, cookie cutters if you like baking...

Display of old favourite vintagey toys...

Your favourite pretty packaging, eg tea tins, biscuit tins

Candlesticks...

3 or 5 photos in nice frames? Or symmetrical vases and a photo/ornament in the centre?
Just trying to sell our dresser for when we move house!

The problem is, I guess, I don't have a 'collection' of anything........

Mine has 3 upper sections - seems to contain

a few bottles of booze (port, whisky, sherry - now there's a nod to retro!)
some glasses
a doll
some unfathomable thing the DCs made out of clay
some silverware
a beautiful pottery jar.

A nice mush mash of photos in vintage frames, old tea cups and teapots, all the pretty crafty type things you own...

Cornishware
Retro but not fussy, and the jugs hide loads of clutter.

cocktail glasses and weird and wonderful liquer bottles, retro cocktail stirrers and shakers??

You've certainly come along with some ideas here I hadn't thought of......
