Waffle iron - can anyone recommend a good one?

Thinking about having waffles for breakfast on Boxing Day and I am looking at buying an iron. Does anyone have one which works well?

I need a new one too. lidl are doing theirs next week. think about how you like your waffles. some makers squash the mixture giving a thinner waffle and some allow the mixture to rise in them giving s thicker, softer waffle. and that is just Belgian waffles before we even get on to irons for the really thin biscuit type waffles!

agree the Lakeland one looks good though. I like the idea of having fingers, better portion control for the dcs and dunkable in hot chocolate.

We've had a Krups waffle maker since the summer and its great. We bought it for £35 from electricshopping but price has gone up there too.

I like the look of the Cusinart ones too. I'd try ebay if you are after a cheaper one (get an expensive one second hand as a lot are hardly used)

We use our frequently. In fact, DS just having some for tea now. Makes better waffles if batter kept in fridge overnight before using which is great for waffles before school.

DS eats his with nutella and I have butter and golden syrup

I didn't know it was best to leave the batter overnight. Thanks for that. I would like the waffles to be thicker and softer Indith.

Better but not a must, las min waffles are ok too! I picked up my new Lidl one today and it look like it will do nice thick waffles. I'd test if for the dc's afternoon snack but I forgot to buy eggs :(.

Reporting back, the Lidl waffle iron (3 in one sandwich maker- it does toasties, waffles and grill) is fantastic. Perfect, thick soft waffles. Bargain at £15!

They also have ones for doing thin, cinnamon waffles in pretty patterns. But I think dh may divorce me if I buy more kitchen gadgetry from Lidl.

We've got a cuisinart which is fab & makes 4 at a time.
