Getting rid of petrol smell

DH poured some petrol into the drain. Whole house stinks, obviously. How on earth can we get rid of it?

To get rid of smells in the home I would normally recommend burning a candle but I really don't think that's a. Good idea in this case!! Try opening a few windows, it'll be cold but certainly a safer option.

Probably illegal. Certainly not sensible. I don't know how much it was. Not a lot, but enough!

top tip - BURNING anything in a room full of petrol fumes is a bad idea. Open the windows, if you have a fan turn that on if there is no wind. 'fresheners' just add more smells.

hoping you are giving DH the bollocking he deserves for this act of pollution. BTW petrol is expensive stuff, why is he pouring it away?

We spilt a small amount on a duvet (from upside down spare petrol container). Put duvet in garage. Everything in there stank for ages. Reed diffuser masked the smell eventually.
