induction hob and steam oven?

We're doing an extension...

up until now, I've been a gas girl - but, I'm defecting to induction.

How do you tell the difference between an Ikea induction hob and a Neff one? I mean, is there actually a difference? tHey look the same to me. Are there any things you'd recommend or avoid when choosing an induction hob?

Also - steam oven? Really? Do you USE it?

One thing to think about when buying an induction hob is to confirm whether the size of the rings matters. My Mum got a Bosch one with 3 rings (small, medium and large). She was only able to use pans that had roughly the same diameter than the ring, which was useless for her as she is on her own 90% of the time so will often want to be able 2 small pans at once.

Quite a few brands apparently accept any diameter of pans on larger rings: Bosch and I suspect Siemens don't. Avoid, avoid!

I would avoid anything electrical from ikea, but CDA, Zanussi and Electrolux all do good quality induction hobs for your money, Neff aren't often as good as the price tag dictates.. As mentioned it's worth considering how many rings/cooking zones you want, multizones are great if you have a wide selection of pan sizes.
Steam oven's are great if you really love to cook although they take a bit of getting used to for baking etc..
