Vacuum cleaner to replace Dyson

I've finally had enough of our Dyson! It has got to go. If it's not taking chunks out of the skirting boards, it's leaving fluff untouched on the carpet or generally redistributing the dust. I used to have an Electrolux which was fab but they do't seem to make them anymore. So the question is, what should I replace it with? We have wooden floors, tiles and carpet and I like to vacuum the sofa too. Are uprights better than cylinders for suction power? What makes do you rate? Can anyone recommend theirs? thanks:)

I can recommend the vacuum cleaner that I have, the Henry. I've had it for about 18 months, no complaints Smile

Get a Miele.

Uprights are better for carpets as they have the beaters. Cylinders usually suck harder.

I second the Miele, we got one a couple of months ago and are really pleased with it!

I'll have a look at the Miele then! Thanks all.
