Is distilled barley malt vinegar (it's clear) the same as white vinegar and can I use it in my washing machine in place of softener on baby clothes?

I'm new to this and could only find distilled vinegar in the supermarket. Do I just put it in the softner drawer?

Thank you oh wise ones! Grin

no, I don't think it is. The big supermarkets don't seem to sell white vinegar - if you've got a Wilkinsons near you they have it. Be careful though as the bottle tops always seem to be loose.

about a pound for a big bottle. Oh, and good dishwasher tabs too for the same.

Oh no. If its not the same I now have a big bottle of vinegar with nothing use it on! Sad

yes it will work the same if it is the white(clear) one (at a push you could probably use the brown one too!)

educatingarti · 27/11/2012 17:00

I think it is the same! Vinegar is vinegar imo!

Softener for babies clothes?
I'd use it for cleaning the machine, but as softener? They'll smell, won't they?

dappledawn · 27/11/2012 23:32

marking place (as also interested in vinegar!)

Believe it works as softener by eliminating old soap from fabrics, and smell soon goes.

I use it as softener sometimes. It doesn't smell and cleans the machine out.
