Soak them in hot water and washing up liquid, they might be clogged with grease too and this will loosesn it, get an old toothbrush and give them a good going over.

Check the thing they spin on, my hair gets everywhere in this house and recently stopped my dishwasher working by wrapping around the spin thing in the filter.

Rinse them really well because washing up liquid and dishwashers do not mix!

Thanks - great tips. but how do you actually get the food out? I can see the holes are blocked, but i cant get inside to pick stuff out!

The heat of the water and the grease busting washing up liquid should shift it just by breaking it up really.

You can use a cocktail stick if you like to get the first bits out.

In future scrape all your plates into the bin before they go in.

look at the make and model of your dishwasher (may be engraved on to top edge of the door) and download the instruction manual, if you have lost it.

Usually taking the arms off and shaking them about in a sink will do it.

Verify that your filters are in place, undamaged and kept clean.

Scrape off food remains before putting in the machine.
