How to clean the washing machine after dying clothes?

I like to use clothes dye quite often, mostly thg dark colours, but I have found it stains the washine machine door seal and gets into its folds. I do give this a wipe down after using the dye but it is hard to get it all off.

I have just done a white wash, after dying some clothes black last week, and some odd coloured tiny spots have appeared on the white washing. Argh!

How can I clean the machine properly?

And does anyone have any ideas what the coloured spots are and how I can remove them?

I'd use a very dilute bleach solution on the seals and rinse well, although I doubt this would be recommended by the manufacturers, then do an empty wash on 90 to clean it all out.
No idea about the spots though.

Run an empty wash with a scoop of biological powder at the highest temp the washing machine will go on.
When I used to wash ds,s oily clothes(he,s a mechanic),I used to have to do this after his load of clothes otherwise I would have the situation you describe from the residue of oil in the machine,in your case clothes dye.

Its been a while.l.l but I tHink you wash the finished dyed items in the washer with bio powder at the wash temp recommended for the clothes, and a 2nd wash with bio powder and empty clothes at the highest temp you can on the washer.
I then wiped the seals etc.
My final ' insurance' was to wash a dark hot wash - eg dark towels- for the first wash after the above dylon instructions....

Thanks, will try this as I have now got blue spots on the DSs sheets after washing them today, which is quite irritating.
