The smell of vomit

Does anyone know how to get rid of the smell of vomit out of my bedroom carpet? I've got rid of the stain but the smell still lingers! I've tried the usual febreeze type stuff, but it still comes back.

hot water and disenfectant

bamboobutton · 13/11/2012 19:49

biological washing powder disolved in hot water and scrubbed into the carpet.

the enzymes will destroy the smell in no time.

ds puked all over our bed the other night, good scrub with the bio the next morning and by bedtime the bed was fresh as a daisy!

Bicarbonate of soda sprinkled over, left overnight if possible (or as long as possible through the day) then vacuum up.

I use dilute disinfectant. Something to do with vomit being acid, disinfectant being alkali, so it neutralises it.

Another vote for bicarbonate of soda- worked a treat on my car seat recently.

bicarb of soda = proven many many times in the lurkalot household.

mrslurkalot · 13/11/2012 23:07

By the way we use a solution of bicarb and water to scrub the offending area. Good luck!

Also leave the window open for a while to get some fresh air in - sometimes it can linger and I'm sure it's in the air!

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.
