Kenwood Chef or nice pretty kmix??!

Seriously thinking of getting one and have read some discussion about kitchen aid v kenwood but have discounted the KA on price :( so Tesco have the classic chef for the bargain price of £187 AND it's in the clubcard exchange. It has the liquidisers bit too and seems to have a v powerful motor 800w vs 500w on the kmix?)
But the kmix is pretty. And kenwood are dishing out a free attachment with them. So, would I be trading performance for looks? I do have a blender/liquidisers anyway. The chef seems a bargain though. Help!!!!!!!!!

Will it be a decorative ornament, or will you use it for cakes, soups, crumbles, dough, meringues and stuff?

what sort of a mixer do you have now, how often do you use it, is it big enough, what makes you want to change?

I've got one two and a half years old sitting in a box gathering dust.

I bought it thinking I would do a 3 tier wedding cake for myself whilst working full time.....I had a cake from a cake maker in the end.

I use my hand mixer for york pud etc.

I have a kmix and use it at least 3 x a week. Love it. I don't want/need the food processor side, it suits me. And it's pretty.

Where are you? do you want mine? It's only going to end up on eBay. cos I want an iPad to make room for when we move.

Yes, I have a 30 year old KC which is still going strong and I wouldn't swap it for a KA. I use it for cakes and bread mainly and it is brilliant. My friend has got through 3 KAs through making bread dough - she says the motor just can't seem to cope with it.

I inherited my Mum and Dad's Kenwood Chef which is 30 years old (they bought a new one) and it also still works perfectly.

WRT motor size, I remember reading somewhere that the Kitchen Aid has a less powerful motor but that it works differently so the performance is the same. Don't know if the same applies to the KMix.

I'm getting a pretty cover for my KC.

I currently use a hand blender for soups and a hand electric whisk for cakes etc. I am getting quite into baking so am looking for something better but not £500 better!!!

I do have a food processor with a variety of chopping grating etc attachments that I use once in a flood. So I guess I would use it primarily for baking but presuming it wasn't stuck in a cupboard I might use the processor bits? Ah decisions decisions

I have a chef, It's got the stainless steel bowl, liquidiser, whisk, K Beater, dough hook, splash gaurd and a white plastic cover to go over it all. I might not have a spatula to go with it...

I dont know if the liquidiser is glass or plastic. I didnt use that bit on it.

DH has diabetes so my cake making died a death.

I think when we went to York it took us an hour and a half to get there on a Saturday morning.

It's going either way so dont worry if it's too far to drive. Petrols not cheap!.

Yes, I just checked my Amazon order history.

It just says kenwood chef on the box.

IME most of the chef attachments stay in their box at the back of the cupboard. A serate blender is more convenient. Very few people use the sausage-maker or the electric tin-opener.
