Permanent marker on crean carpet/how do I fix THAT

Just that really, one of the DCs has managed to get permanent marker, dark blue, on the cream carpet that was laid about 8 weeks ago. Does anyone have any kind of miricale cure tips as to how I can deal with it please?

Does it have a deep shag pile and would it cope with a trim?

non oil hairspray works (but not tried it on carpet, just clothes) also nail varnish remover (acetone type) should work. Failing that it's got to be a razor blade and a slight trim for the carpet

Wouldn't nail varnish remover damage the carpet though? I may just have to trim it, it's a twist rather than a shag pile. I'm reluctant to put anything on it in case it spreads it, IYSWIM. We're trying to sell the house, so it needs to look perfect.

Haven't had to try it on carpet luckily AdoraBell but if you're scared of spreading then I'd go for the trim option-hard to say without seeing said stain really. Good luck either way

Bicarb of soda get it on asap and rub like a crazy person whilst shouting no no no! It works :-)

You could try this on an offcut if you have one.

I used nail varnish remover on our cream carpet when I dropped bright pink nail varnish on it. I kept pouring on little drops and dabbing with kitchen towel. No rubbing.

Came out after a while and didn't harm the carpet at all. (After the nail varnish remover got rid of the stain, I used carpet cleaner to mask the smell)

DH never found out - we too had only laid the carpet 2 months before.

I've tried all the suggestions and the nail varnish remover worked best, carpet hasn't melted yet. The fitters ruined a large section using petrol to clean up a glue spill and I was worried the nail varnish remover would do the same. Having looked again, it's not marker on the carpet. I'm going to have to rethink once I've found out what it is.

And as a more serious suggestion, a laundry stain remover that deals with whatever the particular stain is? I have little odd shaped bottles (can't remember the make though) that have about 10 different ones in the range, each aimed at slightly different stains.

I'm passed crying, but thanks for the suggestion[hwink], will look at stain removers when I go out later.

Did the bicarb not work?

I got a very large artwork out of my carpet. Also dark blue permanent marker.

I was quick to it and my carpet is high in wool. I used a lot of bicarb.
