Buying my first washing machine

What do i need to look for? Theres only me and DD (5) So i wont need one that holds a massive load. I dont want to spend a lot of money but i dont know what the best makes are or what i should look for...help?

i always get a hotpoint ,not sure why but everone i know has one,
you need to make sure it will fit in space as they arent all the same size,
i have a large capacity drum, as theres 6 of us plus i like a high spin cycle-the higher the spin ,the dryer your clothes are coming out.
