Have I ruined DD's coat?

Well, she brushed the paintwork that I'd told her not to touch but anyway. It was water-based paint so I thought I'd wash the coat ? paint still there and a bit of googling and I find that washing can 'fix' the stain, eek.

I have the Stain Devil for paint but I'm guessing I should let the coat dry before I try it?

Please reassure me that I might be able to get it out

Can you pick the paint off?

I've scratched the top off but it's left a white stain underneath.

Try a small test patch with white spirit or turps using a cottonbud. Don't rub too vigorously though, do small dabs as it will thin it and therefore make it easier to spread. As long as it isn't doing damage to the fabric then this might work.

Ummmm, DS1 got Dulux emulsion on his clothes, I shoved them in the washer with Lidl's washing liquid on a normal cycle and it all came out.

When I worked in a nursery the paint the children painted with said on the bottle to use non-bio to get it out.

In your shoes, I would try the Stain Devil or perhaps some methylated spirits because I guess you've not got a lot to lose now you've already washed it! whatever you do don't tumble it, that will set the stain.

When it dried a bit I managed to pick some more off so it's looking a bit better but there's one patch that seems to have 'soaked in'. I'll let it dry and attack it with the Stain Devil tomorrow.

If you can't shift it, can you put something over it? A teddy broach or something?
